Risk Game: Tactics, Strategy and Diplomacy

Risk Game Strategies

The activities of a Risk player can be divided into three distinct but parallel parts: tactics & logistics, strategy and diplomacy. A player needs to master all three to succeed consistently. The following shows this distinction:

  • Tactics are methods used to get to a well defined goal. The techniques used to carry out a battle and the manoeuvres required to achieve specific objectives are tactics. Logistics are the means to distribute your resources to frontlines or across your empire.
  • Strategy is the overall plan.
  • Diplomacy is any other means (moral or immoral) that helps you to achieve your grand strategy. It usually means knowing how to engage with other people and get what you want.
Beginners should start with tactics and follow through. More advanced players can look into strategies and diplomacy to get tips on efficient game play.
