I have been recently looking into turn based strategy games and I was wondering what you recommend to Risk fans. What strategy games are going to appeal most to  a person who likes risk. I have a few in mind though before going and trying them I like to know what others think.

When it comes to turn based, nothing beats Civilization games. They are simply fantastic. The only problem with them is that they take time, and I mean a lot of time. When playing you wont feel the passage of time, but some time later you may just ask yourself where did all that time go.

Other than that you can try RTS games, since you are asking for turn based I wont go into details.

Yes, I know Civilization. It's quite a good game. I agree it takes a lot of time. I also used to play Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, you name it. But I want turn based so then I don't have to click fast to win, but instead I can just think about strategy.

I guess their market is not that big these days. I guess everyone wants realistic visuals and fun game controllers and so on. May be turn-based is going out of fashion. Hopefully not. I want to get my dose of turn-based thinking. So, any suggestions?
