Just wondering if anyone has played this version of Risk. I need some good

tactics but I'm developing some of my own with practice. In this version,

all tactics from classic risk are eliminated and therefore old and

unusable. I am getting into a match tomorrow with a couple of friends from

school so I will be learning some things during that game.

I played it, but in a very choppy way.... some general tactics that i've use are to get to the moon and water territories first.

if there are devestation counters on africa, does that mean that you can't get the contenients bonus

Devesation markers make territories impassable but they do not take away the continent bonus.  Since 4 territories are basically removed from the game, then it will be slightly easier in terms of the number of territories to claim the continent bonus.  So to answer your question directly: If the are devestation markers in Africa, you may still claim the continent bonus for that continent assuming you own all of the other African territories.

What causes devastation markers? I have never played this type of Risk, and am interested in it?

Devastation markers are placed in the beginning of the game.  In hte rule book it tells you to shuffle the deck of land territories and pick the first three and place devastation markers on them.  This changes the complexion of the game dramatically and makes each game very different from each other.  One game, Greenland was blocked out by a devastation marker and I took North America.  Made it so much easier for me and harder for everyone else!
