Well i'm playing Risk tommorow in my history class and was wondering what was the best way to start off. I don't know if i should just kill every one right off the bat or if i should go after the whole alliance thing and get stabbed in the back later. Also i was wondering what is the best county to take and so on seeing as this is my first time playing this game.

Start with iceland, use alliances for the first 20 min, dont go free for all until you have a huge army, limit your attacks until you have a hugs army.

YOU GET TO PLAY RISK AT SCHOOL? Why dosn't my class get to do anything cool like that?

Anyway, I'd say build up a fall back point that you can turtle in if something goes horribly wrong. That way you can regroup and slowly but surely reenter the world stage.

For the alliance bit, can't give you any help there. Never used diplomacy anyway. Hard to do for two person games.

Best territory/country? If you want to attack nonstop (bad idea btw. Don't do it. There is no measure of time in existance that will describe how fast you will die) Southern, Eastern, or Northern Europe, or Middle East. If you want to play attritionally (you wear out the other players) Pick Siam or Indonesia and build up in Australia, and let the other players break up their armies on your solid defenses. Then, when everybody's weak, jump out and kill everyone you can without stretching yourself too thin.

Let us know how it goes, btw.

oh one other thing...i'm guessing the other kids will play very recklessly, and also some carelessly. Try and figure out their personailties, if you dont already know them (because you go to school with them). Make alliances with friends, and use their personalities against them. For example, if one player is a very angry, or hyper player, they are going to attack everything. Stay out of their way, for now. Go after the more timid players, who aren't as competitive.

thats kinda hard. if your playing with pros then dont go for australia, caus they can block you off in siam, china and india, so while they get more guys, your stuck in australia. if you get australia be sure to get at least siam. north america is also good because it only has 3 borders. you probably wont get back stabbed cuz theyll see you getting lots of troops every turn and if you have free time get south america

oh i never thought of that, NP. He is right, you could easily be blocked off in australia, so north america would be a good choice. Also, I can see africa working well, as it can expand similarly to north america, and is easier to capture early in the game..

awsome in class? make sure to keep your alliances secret, or you can make it public so that the rest team up on you, but one of the other guys is gonna atack while they focus on you and your ally, its kinda a double setup, you luer him in and then take them out from the inside.

use propaganda; convince your friends to attack the people they hate, causing an erosion war (where each side is basically wasting their troops on eachother). Stay out of the way, and expand quickly when it is time. Don't overplay yourself, as im guessing this will be a big game, in which blitzing will not work.
